The Coroner
is an elected official who must be a physician in good standing
within the medical profession. Deaths which are the result of criminal
or other violent means, or by casualty, or by suicide, or suddenly
when in apparent good health, or in any suspicious or unusual manner
are under the jurisdiction of the Coroner. Anyone who obtains knowledge
of such deaths shall immediately notify the office of the Coroner
of the known facts concerning the time, place, manner and circumstances
of death. The Coroner is charged by law with the responsibility
of determining the cause, mode, and manner of death.
